If a report from Japanese outlet Sponichi<\/a> is believed to be true, Celtic are keeping close tabs on Keita Kosugi ahead of a potential summer swoop. But the Hoops are not alone in the hunt with French champions Paris Saint-Germain and Serie A heavyweights Atalanta also considering a move for the Djurg\u00e5rdens IF defender.<\/p>\n

The 19-year-old Japanese sensation had youth spells with Nishikamakura SC and Shonan Bellmare back in his homeland before plying his trade to Sweden and joining Djurg\u00e5rdens\u2019 academy ranks following a successful trial. He eventually broke into their senior side last year, initially as the understudy to Samuel Dahl.<\/p>\n

Dahl\u2019s transfer to Roma earned him a regular role as the left fullback, including 16 appearances in the 2024-25 UEFA Europa Conference League starting from the qualifying rounds, until their semifinal defeat against the eventual champions, Chelsea. With two goals and one assist in Europe, Kosugi has grabbed the attention of several Champions League hotshots.<\/p>\n

Celtic<\/a>, known for their scouting network both in Sweden and the Far East, are also in the mix amid rumours<\/a> of Greg Taylor\u2019s Bosman move to PAOK upon the expiration of his Parkhead contract. Although Kieran Tierney will script an emotional return to his boyhood club, Brendan Rodgers has not made up his mind whether to convert Jeffrey Schlupp\u2019s loan into a permanent transfer. The Japan youth international might receive<\/a> his maiden senior call-up for the upcoming international fixtures. He fancies<\/a> Premier League football as one of his future goals, and a switch to Celtic could be the perfect stepping stone in comparison with the other suitors.<\/p>\n
