Speaking on the latest edition of\u00a0Football Insider\u2019s Inside Track podcast<\/a>, journalist Pete O\u2019Rourke mentioned that Liverpool remain keen on recruiting Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon this summer. O\u2019Rourke said,<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a move that would be dependent on a lot of factors.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf Luis Diaz was to leave Liverpool, whether it\u2019s to Barcelona, the Saudi Pro League or somewhere else, they will be in the market for a left-winger.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnthony Gordon came very close to joining Liverpool last summer when Newcastle were being forced to sell some players because of PSR regulations.<\/p>\n

\u201cLiverpool have been keeping tabs on Gordon and remain interested in him.<\/p>\n

\u201cNewcastle, ideally, do not want to lose him as he\u2019s a key man in Eddie Howe\u2019s side.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe signed a long-term deal last October after all that speculation over his future, so to convince Newcastle to sell you\u2019d be looking at \u00a375-80million.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt looks a difficult deal to do, it will take a huge fee to persuade them to sell.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith Champions League football, their PSR situation is looking a lot healthier and they\u2019re under no real pressure to sell their prized assets.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gordon\u2019s Impressive Form In The Premier League<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Gordon had a decent campaign at the Tyneside club after he put in a string of impressive displays on the left side of their attack. The English talent scored nine goals and grabbed seven assists in 42 matches for Newcastle<\/a> last season in all competitions.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old deserves some credit for averaging 2.11 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League<\/a> but only kept 28.1% of his attempts on target. Gordon needs to improve his ball distribution based on his pass completion rate of 73.3% in the English top tier (stats via fbref.com<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Is Gordon A Decent Choice For Liverpool Boss Arne Slot?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Gordon can use his quickness to get in behind the opponent\u2019s backline. He has got the vision to create a few inviting chances for his teammates in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet.<\/p>\n

The English talent can chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals from the wide areas. He mainly operates as a left-winger but can also fill in as a right-sided wide player or as a centre-forward if required.<\/p>\n

Gordon would bring more pace and goals to Liverpool<\/a> head coach Arne Slot\u2019s frontline. He has what it takes to fight for regular first-team football at the Merseyside club next season.<\/p>\n
