It\u2019s clear he didn\u2019t like watching the kickoffs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/college\/2025\/11\/11\/donald-trump-calls-into-pat-mcafee-show-talks-nick-saban-future-of-college-sports-nil-ncaa\/87216089007\/\" data-t-l=\":b|e|k|\u2691u\">Trump appeared on &#8220;The Pat McAfee Show&#8221;<\/a> during a Nov. 11 Veterans Day broadcast and ripped the NFL\u2019s kickoff rule.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hate the kickoff in football. I think it\u2019s so terrible, I think it\u2019s so demeaning. I think it hurts the game and hurts the pageantry,\u201d Trump said. \u201cI\u2019ve told that to Roger Goodell. And I don\u2019t think it\u2019s any safer. I mean you still have guys crashing into each other.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ball is in the air and nobody is moving. It\u2019s supposed to be when the ball is in the air, when the ball is played you\u2019re supposed to be moving. The pageantry of the game is so badly hurt. The NFL, they do what they want to do. I don\u2019t think they\u2019ll change. I hope college football doesn\u2019t change, because the power of the kickoff was so beautiful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The NFL&#8217;s new kickoff rule, referred to as the dynamic kickoff, was first implemented in 2024. It was designed to reduce injuries during the play and promote more returns. The NFL slightly amended the rule in 2025 by moving the ball out to the 35-yard-line after a touchback, up from the 25-yard-line last year.<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s often criticized the NFL. He bashed the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/picture-gallery\/entertainment\/music\/2022\/04\/27\/bad-bunny-reggaeton-star-career-highlights-photos\/5672407001\/\" data-t-l=\":b|e|k|\u2691u\">NFL\u2019s decision to have Bad Bunny<\/a> as the headline performer at Super Bowl 60.
