(AP) \u2014 President <span><a data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/hub\/donald-trump\">Donald Trump<\/a><\/span> plans to attend the <span><a data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/wrestling-penn-state-gable-fa180de9cade7234d79ecb5e0b08ea73\">NCAA wrestling championships<\/a><\/span> for the second time in three years, the latest example of how he has mostly limited travel early in his new term to trips built around sports events.<\/p>\n<p>Trump is expected to be at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on Saturday night as Penn State looks to close out its fourth straight men\u2019s team title. The Republican president spent Friday night as his club in Bedminster, New Jersey, about 70 miles northeast of Philadelphia, on what was his first visit there of his second term.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re going to the big fight. The reason I\u2019m going is in Philadelphia. They have the NCAA, world, wrestling for college. And I\u2019ve always supported the wrestlers,\u201d Trump told reporters as he left the White House on Friday evening. \u201cI want to support them. These are the great college wrestlers from the various schools.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>In the two-plus months since returning to the White House, Trump <span><a data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-nfl-super-bowl-first-president-766c628f4ea3faf38d100e4f33f2ac8c\">attended the Super Bowl in New Orleans<\/a><\/span> and the <span><a data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-nascar-daytona-500-sports-20a1f0a75207ec57dfa4c58aa3934875\">Daytona 500<\/a><\/span> in Florida, where his motorcade drove a portion of the track. While president-elect he went to a <span><a data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-ufc-match-new-york-8d5bfbccd32c1115cf2f6b54b8c58a0e\">UFC fight in New York<\/a><\/span>. <\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s more travel for sports than for policy announcements or official duties, though a long January swing took Trump to <span><a data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-first-trip-california-north-carolina-nevada-b906880254ce7bf249c3dcefa45bf846\">tour damage<\/a><\/span> from Hurricane Helene in North Carolina and wildfires in Los Angeles. He then gave a <span><a data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-las-vegas-taxes-tips-hospitality-workers-92da0193df89d1773b8f7dcc84ea7e3d\">speech<\/a><\/span> and visited the floor of Las Vegas\u2019 Circa Resort &#038; Casino before heading to Doral, Florida, <span><a data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-house-republicans-taxes-budget-92d07333b33f57085233303e17f41273\">to address<\/a><\/span> a House Republican policy conference.<\/p>\n<p>Trump has long built his public and political persona around sporting events, and relishes turning up at live events to hear cheers from the crowd, even if some in attendance boo him.
