\u2022 Defense bill:<\/strong> The House is expected to take up a vote on the annual defense policy bill<\/a> today, with GOP congressional leaders facing hurdles to muscle the bill through a narrow majority. <\/p>\n

\u2022 Boat strikes: <\/strong>Tucked into the bill is a provision that would limit Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth\u2019s travel budget<\/a> unless he provides the House and Senate Armed Services committees with unedited video of US strikes on alleged drug boats in the Caribbean<\/a>. Meanwhile, the House committee chair is prepared to end his panel\u2019s investigation<\/a> into the September double-tap strike after viewing footage, an aide told CNN. <\/p>\n

Sen. Mark Warner, the top Democrat on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, expressed concern Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth will not release the video of the \u201cdouble-tap\u201d strike that killed survivors on an alleged drug trafficking boat in September. <\/p>\n

Warner, who was part of the Gang of Eight briefing with Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other top security and intelligence officials on Tuesday, suggested some in the briefing understood why lawmakers should have access video. <\/p>\n

Asked if Hegseth offered any rationale for releasing some videos and not the follow-up strike recording, Warner said, \u201cThere is no rationale.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cUnderstanding that Congress has an oversight responsibility and to draw this fake line that I\u2019m going to show you some videos, which they want to brag about, but then not show the survivors and the subsequent action taken, and how that is different from the other videos. I mean, it just doesn\u2019t pass the smell test,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Congress is almost out of time to extend enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies that would avert skyrocketing health care premiums<\/a> for tens of millions of Americans next year. <\/p>\n

House Republicans left a critical party meeting this morning still unclear what plan they will unify around to try to address rising health care costs. <\/p>\n

Tomorrow, the Senate is set to vote on a Democratic proposal to extend the subsidies for another three years, as well as a GOP plan that focuses on expanding health savings account eligibility without extending the tax credits. Neither is expected to get the 60 votes needed to pass the Senate. <\/p>\n
