Dan Caine told reporters Saturday during the president&#8217;s news conference at Mar-a-Lago.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the night, aircraft launched from 20 bases across the Western Hemisphere toward Venezuela. Caine said the mission, named Operation Absolute Resolve, involved more than 150 aircraft.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As the night began, the helicopters took off with the extraction force, which included law enforcement officers, and began their flight into Venezuela at 100 feet above the water,&#8221; Caine said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As the helicopters approached shore, they were protected by other aircraft, including drones, bombers and fighter jets. He said Cuba is an &#8220;interesting&#8221; case.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think Cuba is going to be something we&#8217;ll end up talking about, because Cuba is a failing nation right now,&#8221; Mr. Trump responded. &#8220;A very badly failing nation. Ford<\/a><\/span>, an aircraft carrier that has been in the area for weeks as part of a broader buildup of U.S. forces in the region,\u00a0 sources told CBS News.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Attorney General Pam Bondi posted a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/agpambondi\/status\/1998875795151024337?s=46\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">45-second video of the operation<\/a> on X, showing armed personnel descending onto the vessel&#8217;s deck from a helicopter. Some 11 naval vessels were in the Caribbean Sea as of Dec. 30, Navy officials told CBS News, including the USS Gerald R.
