Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s national security adviser, Mike Waltz, said he took full responsibility for a stunning leak of military<\/a> plans in a Signal chat, while Trump intervened to defend him, saying it was \u201cthe only glitch in two months\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI take full responsibility. I built the group. My job is to make sure everything is coordinated,\u201d Waltz said in an interview with Fox News, in which he conceded: \u201cit\u2019s embarrassing\u201d.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Trump administration<\/a> has scrambled to contain the fallout since the Atlantic published a story on Monday revealing that its editor-in-chief, Jeffrey Goldberg, had been inadvertently added to a chat with Waltz and other senior White House officials \u2013 including vice-president JD Vance, defense secretary Pete Hegseth and secretary of state Marco Rubio. The group discussed sensitive operational information about planned US airstrikes on Yemen.<\/p>\n

When pressed by Fox News\u2019s Laura Ingraham, Waltz accepted responsibility for making the Signal group, though he continued to deflect blame, insulted Goldberg and said he couldn\u2019t explain how the mistake had occurred.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s embarrassing, yes. We\u2019re going to get to the bottom of it,\u201d Waltz said<\/a>, adding that he was consulting with Elon Musk: \u201cWe\u2019ve got the best technical minds looking at how this happened.\u201d<\/p>\n
