A man accused of vandalizing\u00a0Vice President JD Vance\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0home in Cincinnati now faces federal charges on top of previously filed local charges.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Justice Department<\/a>\u00a0announced last evening that federal prosecutors have charged William D. DeFoor, 26, with damaging government property and engaging in physical violence against any person or property in a restricted building or grounds \u2014 crimes that are each punishable by up to 10 years in prison. DeFoor was also charged with assaulting, resisting or impeding federal officers, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.<\/p>\n

NBC News previously reported that DeFoor had been charged in Hamilton County Municipal Court with four counts of vandalism, criminal trespass, criminal damaging and obstructing official business. He will be arraigned on those charges today, according to the court docket.<\/p>\n

A former Jan. 6 prosecutor said Trump\u2019s actions \u2014 and the growing embrace of them by a broader swath of Americans \u2014 were \u201cmaddening.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
