Domestically, GOP Rep. Thomas Massie is calling for Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick to resign<\/a>. Asked on CNN\u2019s \u201cInside Politics\u201d if Lutnick, who appeared to have corresponded with Epstein multiple times, should testify, the Kentucky lawmaker responded, \u201cNo, he should just resign.\u201d <\/p>\n

Documents revealed that Lutnick sought to meet with or call Epstein several times since 2005, including after Epstein pleaded guilty to procuring a minor for prostitution in 2008. <\/p>\n

And yesterday, several victims of Jeffrey Epstein appeared in an ad<\/a> that demanded more transparency from the government as it continues to post documents related to the late sex offender. The ad demands that Attorney General Pam Bondi release all files pertaining to various investigations into Epstein, who died in 2019. <\/p>\n

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu \u201cis expected\u201d to visit Washington to meet with Trump on Wednesday, \u201cwhere he will discuss with him the negotiations with Iran,\u201d the Prime Minister\u2019s office said Saturday. <\/p>\n

Yesterday, Iran\u2019s foreign minister said the country must uphold its right to continue uranium enrichment, after initial indirect talks with the United States<\/a> over the country\u2019s nuclear progam. <\/p>\n

A key point of contention remains Iran\u2019s demand to enrich uranium \u2013 a nuclear fuel that can be used to make a bomb if purified to high levels \u2013 which the US and its allies reject. <\/p>\n

Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman said yesterday he does not expect Democrats and Republicans to come to an agreement ahead of the February 13 government funding deadline for the Department of Homeland Security. <\/p>\n

If an agreement to fund DHS is not met, a partial shutdown is on the horizon, which would affect operations in that department. Agencies such as TSA, FEMA and the Coast Guard would all be impacted. <\/p>\n

Members of Congress can begin reviewing unredacted versions of the Jeffrey Epstein files at the Department of Justice today, according to a new letter obtained by CNN. <\/p>\n

The letter from DOJ outlines parameters for how members can review the unredacted versions of the more than 3 million pages that DOJ has released to the public. <\/p>\n

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche announced last month upon the department\u2019s latest public release of Epstein files that members would be able to schedule appointments to view the unredacted versions. <\/p>\n

The architects of the law that required the Epstein files release, Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna and Republican Rep. Thomas Massie, had requested to view the unredacted materials on January 30. <\/p>\n

Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, also requested that all Judiciary Committee Democrats get to review the documents before Attorney General Pam Bondi is set to testify in front of the panel on Wednesday. <\/p>\n

President Donald Trump drew swift condemnation from Democrats<\/a> and Republicans<\/a> for a since-deleted racist video<\/a> posted to his Truth Social account depicting former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama as apes in a jungle. <\/p>\n

The social media post, which Trump has refused to apologize for sharing, was the latest in a long line of offensive messages<\/a> amplified by the his account. <\/p>\n

Here\u2019s what you need to know:<\/em> <\/p>\n

The video Trump shared largely contained debunked claims about fraud in voting machines. As that section of the video ended, a separate clip showing the Obamas\u2019 faces superimposed on the bodies of apes played, set to the song \u201cThe Lion Sleeps Tonight.\u201d <\/p>\n

The post, which recalls the racist trope of comparing Black people with monkeys<\/a>, prompted swift backlash. It was online for roughly 12 hours before it was deleted from Trump\u2019s feed. <\/p>\n

The White House initially defended the post and downplayed the response to the video, calling it \u201cfake outrage.\u201d Following a bipartisan backlash, the White House then told CNN a \u201cstaffer erroneously made the post. It has been taken down.\u201d <\/p>\n

Trump said that neither he nor his staff had seen all of the video before it was posted to Truth Social. <\/p>\n

When asked directly whether he would apologize, he declined. <\/p>\n

When pressed, Trump said he condemned the racist portion of the clip. \u201cOf course I do,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

\u201cI am, by the way, the least racist president you\u2019ve had in a long time,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
