How to decrease for the toe on a knitted sock

In this DROPS video we show how to decrease to shape the toe on a knitted sock.

We show here a basic decrease for toe – there are many variations. We insert a marker each side with same number of sts on needles on upper and under foot.
Then dec for toe on each side of both markers and 2 K sts each side as follows – beg 3 sts before end of needle in first side: slip 1 st, K1, pass slipped st over, place marker, K1, on next needle K1, K2 tog. Repeat the dec on each side of foot on every row as in video, or on every other row for a longer toe, until 8 sts left on needle. Cut the thread, pull through remaining sts and fasten.
