UrbanDaddy challenged us to create a memorable interactive experience in water. Our desire was to create animations that party-goers could swim through. Initially we had no idea how to make this a reality.
Pools are not exactly the most projection ready surface, and initial brainstorms produced many more challenges than we had anticipated. In researching a solution, we had to overcome the fact that projection doesn’t work on the surface of water, it becomes distorted if you project through it, and pool parties are notorious for more standing than swimming. To make something truly interactive, we needed to get everyone in that pool!
We reacted as any any normal person would, and promptly put in and order for 65,000 ping pong balls, enough to cover the entire surface of the pool. To go with our new screen, we created an application which mapped to the pool and displayed a floating river of graphics, pulled by an invisible tide. Audio reactive visuals bumped along with the various dj’s and musical acts taking place poolside. The tactile quality of swimming through ping pong balls, combined with animated colors and light created an interactive event worth telling stories about.
In this DROPS video we show how to knit the half Fisherman’s Rib (also known as Shaker’s rib), which less bulky than conventional Fisherman’s Rib.
We knit with 1 edge st each side knits on every row.
1st row (WS): knit all sts.
2nd row (RS): *p1, knit 1 in the stitch below (aka p1, 1B)*, repeat *-* across row (if uneven number of sts end p1). Repeat row 1 and 2.

In this DROPS video we show how to knit a cable over 4 stitches without using a cable needle. We show both a cable to the right and to the left in this video.
Cable turning right: yarn in front of work, slip 2 sts onto right needle, yarn to back of work, K2, from behind pick up the 2 slipped sts on left needle, drop the first 2 sts on right needle + 2 slipped sts and then put the first two sts back on right needle again, yarn to back of work and K2.
Cable turning left: slip 2 sts, K2, from front pick up the 2 slipped sts on left needle, drop the first 2 sts on right needle + 2 slipped sts and then put the first two sts back on right needle again, K2.

In this DROPS video we show how you can knit a rib in knit 1, purl 1 (K1, P1)
Knitting a rib gives an elastic piece that is great for cuffs and edges. It’s important that all knitted stitches comes above knitted stitches, and all purled stitches come above the purled stitches.
1st row (RS): K1, P1, continue like this until end of row, turn.
2nd row (WS): P1 above P1, K1 above K1. Continue like this until end of row, turn.
Repeat 1st and 2nd row until rib has desired measure in height.
