  • How to knit stripes in the round with no jog

How to knit stripes in the round with no jog

In this DROPS video we show how to knit stripes in the round without getting a jog in the transition.

Change to the new color and knit one round. At the end of the first round with the new color, before knitting the first st on the next round, pick up the stitch from previous round below the stitch. Pick it up in the back loop as if to purl and put it onto the left needle. Knit the stitch together with the 1st st on the round and keep knitting. You will minimize getting a step from one round to next by using this technique.
You can carry to other color along on the inside of the work. If the stripes are wide, you can twist the colors at the end of round on every 3 cm/ every 1 inch.

  • How to knit a cable with a cable needle

How to knit a cable with a cable needle

In this DROPS video we show how to knit a cable with a cable needle.

When you make cables you switch positions of the stitches. The more stitches that are moved the wider cable.
In the video we make a cable turning to the left, by putting the stitches to be moved on a cable needle in front of work. Next cable turn to the right and then the stitches are put on a cable needle behind the work. The stitches on each side of the cable are being purled on the RS and knit on WS. Then the cables that are worked in stockinette become more visible.

  • The Answer to Every Problem

    The Answer to Every Problem

(Full Length Talks, Stress and Worry, Inspiration, Living with Purpose)
The Answer to Every Problem — A Course in Miracles reminds us that the answer to every problem is given once we recognize what the problem really is. “Everyone in this world seems to have his own special problems. Yet they are all the same, and must be recognized as one if the one solution that solves them all is to be accepted. Who can see that a problem has been solved if he thinks the problem is something else? Even if he is given the answer, he cannot see its relevance. That is the position in which you find yourself now. You have the answer, but you are still uncertain about what the problem is…If you could recognize that your only problem is separation, no matter what form it takes, you could accept the answer because you would see its relevance.” (ACIM, W-pI.79.)

“You need to relax, you need to relax. This intensity that you’re feeling about right and wrong in terms of the world is just a distraction to keep you from relaxing. And you’re not going to really be able to tune into the Holy Spirit if you’re in a state of fear or anxiety, that blocks the Holy Spirit’s Voice from awareness. You have to begin to relax. And how can you relax any better than by admitting you have a perceptual problem. That is going to be the key to allow you to start to relax. To stop judging yourself. Right, wrong, positive, negative, oh my gosh, that self-judgment and self-criticism is depleting, it’s depressing, it makes you tired, fatigued. It just is wearying your mind down because your mind wasn’t created to be a judge. And so this judgment of the form, judgment of the behavior, and judgment of the behaviors of others is very, very debilitating. And you know, to judge is still denying that it’s a perceptual problem, it’s not bringing it back to your mind and saying, ‘I am mistaken about everything I perceive,’ it’s saying, ‘No, I’m right about what I perceive and I did these things right and wrong and those people did these things right and wrong’ and it’s trying to be right about judgment instead of admit that I have a perceptual problem. It’s so important to come to this admission of a perceptual problem.”

  • How to decrease by knitting 2 stitches together (K2tog)

How to decrease by knitting 2 stitches together (K2tog)

In this DROPS video we show how to knit 2 stitches together (aka K2tog).

This is probably the easiest way to decrease 1 stitch: knit 2 stitches together as one. In the video we first knit 2 stitches together in the front loops, the dec leans right.
Then we knit 2 stitches twisted together, i.e. we knit them together in the back loops and the dec leans to the left.

  • How to do Kitchener stitches / grafting / weaving

How to do Kitchener stitches / grafting / weaving

In this DROPS video we show how to sew two parts together with an invisible seam, also known as Kitchener stitch (aka grafting, aka weaving).

This technique is perfect for the top of the toes on a sock, shoulders etc.

Have your sts on each needle with right sides out. Working yarn attached in the back piece.
Start: pull needle and yarn through st on front needle purl-wise, then pull needle with yarn through first st on back needle knit-wise.
Tighten thread – you are ready to go.
Following 4 steps are being repeated:
    1. go knit-wise into first st on front needle, lift st off needle
    2. go purl-wise into next st on front needle, pull yarn through (leave st on needle)
    3. go purl wise into first st on back needle, lift st off needle
    4. go knit-wise into next st on back needle, pull yarn through (leave st on needle)
Think “knit, purl. purl, knit”, always starting on the front needle.
