How to avoid a jog at the beginning of circular knitting

In this DROPS video we show how to create an invisible join when starting your circular knitting and in this way avoid a jog in your work.

Note! Cast on 1 additional stitch than what pattern tells you.

Join, making sure not to twist stitches on row.
Slip 1st stitch on left needle purl-wise over to right needle. Slip the 2nd stitch on right needle over the 1st.

Move the slipped stitch back to left needle. Tighten yarn ends. Place a marker to mark beginning of the round and start knitting.

ABOVE BOULDER – 4K Drone Film

Fly over a Rocky Mountain college town known for its expansive views, hyper-active residents, socks in Chacos, and bikes more expensive than the cars they’re carried on. I had a week near the end of my summer to showcase my hometown from a fresh perspective using my Phantom drone. Early mornings and sweaty hikes provided great light, awesome locations and high stoke. It’s exhilarating to see how a place I know well can look so different from the air.

How to knit a front edge in double yarn

In this DROPS video we show how you can knit a front edge in double yarn (using 2 strands of yarn).

You can use 2 strands of yarn to make the front edge nice thick and firm on e.g. a knitted cardigan and using this on the first two sts towards the edge. After the 2 sts let go of one of the threads, and then pick it up again on the way back.

  • How to crochet a knit stitch in Tunisian/Afghan crochet

How to crochet a knit stitch in Tunisian/Afghan crochet

Tunesian (Afghan) crochet is a technique that makes your work look knitted (for larger project you use a long crochet hook, called an Afghan hook). In this DROPS video we show how to crochet a knit stitch using this technique.

Start with a row of chain stitches. Work first row by inserting the hook back into the second chain from hook, pull yarn through, then insert hook in next chain, pull yarn through and so on until end of chain row. All new sts remain on the hook and at the end, there will be as many sts on the hook as the pattern required. Do not turn work, but now start binding off each stitch by first pulling yarn through 1 st, then yarn trough 2 sts at the same time until end of row. Make sure to have a constant number of sts everytime you pick up new sts. This technique creates a dense fabric with a definite front and back side.

    Music (Jeremy Soule) Skyrim

    Mon souffle agrandit chaque demeure
Et l’expérience ondule au large de ma main

Un double horizon découpe mes yeux
Vulnérable on m’a jeté parmi les hasards
    Mortel on m’a marqué d’éternité

    ————–

I was born from this landscape
I took breath in the silt of the river

The whole world comes knocking at my sides

I hear the world heart beat in my blood

    I am memory , I am Future
I tore the sky clarity of my eyes
I opened my hands to the four winds
I take reign over the seasons

    River streams linked us together
I will learn the harsh and beautiful phrase of your shores

Your mouth is the beginning of the sea
I foresee a very long patience

The heart full of enigme I dream of a pure sky
My language is a flower in this ground

I will follow the course of the river
I know all yesterday and tomorrow
And today I need to build

    Alone and full of love
    I unite mouth quivering flank
I join the tree to the earth surprised
I carry all their wedding wishes
    My footsteps ignite every season
    My breath grows every home
And experience waves off my hand

A double horizon cutting my eyes
Vulnerable I was thrown from the hazards
In my fate eternity is affected me

I open roads I throw bridges
I take pictures of each event
I create a landscape for every age

    How could man live here
By what word he would take possession of that soil

The distance is too widw between every man
We have no time to watch the earth

The cold forces us to run

But have we seen nearly the man of my country
Have we seen these thousands of lakes and mountains

    Here everyone walking on stilts
We exist in an instinctive gesture
Will We born in a word
What tides will lead us to the shores of the world

    This landscape is boundless
    This figure is without memory

  • How to knit an I-cord back and forth

How to knit an I-cord back and forth

In this DROPS video we show how you can knit an I-cord back and forth on the needle.

An I-cord is a knitted tube. Often used for the handles on a bag or cords to tie on a hat, jacket or hood. We have another video showing how to make a small i-cord knitting from RS only, but with this one we show you how you how to make a larger one. You can cast on 4, 6, 8 sts or more, but it has to be an even number.

Knit every row back and forth like this: *K1, put thread in front of piece, slip 1 st as if to purl, put thread behind piece*, repeat from *-* on all rows. This creates a round string. When long enough knit sts tog 2 by 2 at the same time as binding off.

RED / VisionColor OSIRIS Color Grading Test

I got hired to do the color grading on a commercial that will be shot on a Red Epic so I grabbed some raw clips from reduser.com to do a quick test of how well visioncolor’s m31 lut from Osiris would hold up with the r3ds.
The results are pretty amazing imo… literally just applied the LUT to all of the clips and made no other adjustments… such a great time saver!
