  • Blender Aligorith Physics (Spherical Gravity)

    Blender Aligorith Physics (Spherical Gravity)

Here is another variation of the spherical gravity concept. Once again rendered in Blender. This scene uses the special physics system written by coder, Aligorith. This system offers Blender users some of the features found in Cinema4D MoDynamics.

The “saturn balls” are not particles, instead they are rigid body physics participants. The two larger spheres each contain an Empty which has a force field applied to it. The force field strength is modulated by an f-curve modifier. Both spheres have the same modifier, except one sphere is set to SIN wave generation and the other sphere is set to COS wave generation. This phase differential in strengths creates a beat pattern and causes the saturn balls to move back and forth between the spheres. There is also a larger invisible sphere around the whole setup. This larger invisible sphere is also a physics participant. If any of the smaller saturn balls escape the oscillating force fields they encounter the invisible ball which has it’s surface set to a “rubber” setting which causes the escapee to bounce back into the range of the oscillating fields.

Here is a link to the development thread, which contains BLEND files and a link to Aligorith’s special build of Blender which rendered this video:

  • Adaptive Lights – Mental Models

    Adaptive Lights – Mental Models

A video concept describing a design process for intelligent system development using mental models. In the video, the process is applied to the context of a home environment with adaptive lighting. The video demonstrates the advantages and disadvantages of an intelligent lighting system, where the level of “intelligence” increases each stage, until it no longer makes logical sense.

The process was designed with my team: Aylin Groenewoud, Julie Hornix, Janne van Kollenburg, Rhys Duindam.

    Floating Points – Silhouettes

An oscillating stream of light attempts to intrude on an arid natural landscape, abstract light and a living environment merge, reacting to the dynamics of the music.
The luminous abstract forms are produced by a light-painting machine that, frame by frame, draws in a real environment the 3D animated figures.

  • PropAway beta for FPV : keeps the propeller away from the view

PropAway beta for FPV : keeps the propeller away from the view

PropAway for FPV will keep the propeller away from the view. A small microntroller in the plane will adapt the speed of the motor to make it match the video camera’s frame rate.

The algorithm will keep constant the speed AND the phase (angle) of the propeller, even in case of external influences such as wind.

In this demo, I try to brake the propeller with my hand, and then with small sheets of paper : see how the command to the ESC is immediately adapted to resist the change.

The visual indication of phase and command to the ESC as seen on this video is made only for debugging or visualization on a connected PC (developped in C# and emguCV)

The microcontroller used is a PIC18F1320 using internal oscillator. The vertical synchro signal from the camera is extracted with a LM1881. In total, only 2 these two chips, 2 capacitors, 1 resistor and a hall sensor are needed.

Still in development, for questions or comments please see full thread on http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1305232

    Thank you !
