Theming From A Developer’s Perspective | Lauren Roth | DrupalCamp Dallas 2009
Web development and web design have long been siloed into separate skill sets, but for the Drupal theme ninja, both are indispensable. A theme developer understands PHP, $vars manipulation, theme_overrides, and how Drupal content loads dynamically into the page. A themer adds to this an understanding of more traditional design skills, including CSS, grid theory and facility with the necessary graphical tools. Though many come to theming from a design background, there is little reason a developer could not also make the transition. The first requirement is that the Drupal developer shed any unease about design. Once over this hurdle, he or she can leverage their excellent development skills towards curating what Drupal is ostensibly for, the display of content. This talk will cover the necessary tools and tricks of the trade, of the sophisticated Drupal themer, and how a developer can become one. It will cover the plugins, the theme stack, the necessary files and coding skills. Most importantly, though, it will attempt to demystify the design process and show just how useful development skills are to theming. The overall goal is to understand the overall design of a Drupal site and that we are not just serving information, we, as developers, are serving content, and content is king. We should be like the monks of Ellesmere’s Chaucer, but with better and faster tools to make the web a beautiful, powerful place.

MLOVE STARS
PROJEKTIL created for the MLOVE ConFestival 2011 http://mlove.com/mlove2011/ an app controlled interactive video mapped installation. The MLOVE STAR app http://tinyurl.com/3zv2t79 has been exclusively developed for an intriguing installation at the MLOVE ConFestival 2011. It gives the user a beautifully designed remote control to interact with the audio visual installation “Star”.
It allows to select a star from the sky above the MLOVE castle and have it dropped onto its facade, where it starts to interact with the windows, doors and oriels and exposes the hidden visuals and sounds behind each of those elements. The users were asked to play with it and select different stars and have them dropped at different places to compose each time a new audiovisual creation.

The Universe | Origins | A Video Feedback Triptych
A Silence Please Productions Video
Visuals & Concept: Gonzalo Caride
Sound Effects and Music: Eduardo Vizan & Santa SantorumThe project:
This is an experiment with Video Feedback.
After a lot of tests: trying, failing and trying again, we were able to create three independent clips that for us represented the origins, development and extinction of the Universe.
Video Feedback is a medium that allows almost infinite options, and we wanted to create something different from the typical Video Feedback videos that you can find in the net (most of them very pretty but with a complete lack of meaning).
We wanted to use Video Feedback as a medium towards storytelling.
The three clips that compose this Triptych are shown exactly as we record them, no cuts, no effects… Straight from the camera. Just a fade-in and fade-out at the beginning and end to make them pace properly. All music and sound were composed by Eduardo Vizan and Santa Santorum and without their work, talent, ideas and support this project wouldn’t exist.
Feel free to comment and give us your impressions, it’s the only way we can keep on improving.
If you want, you can upload or add this video to any channel, group, blog or web page you want. This is for sharing, and we really appreciate when people like it and want to showcase it around the web.Hope you enjoy and thanks for watching.

ICD/ITKE RESEARCH PAVILION 2015-16 – Stuttgart 2016Institute for Computational Design (ICD) – Prof. Achim Menges
Institute of Building Structures and Structural Design (ITKE) – Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jan Knippers
University of Stuttgart – Faculty for Architecture and Urban PlanningThe Institute for Computational Design (ICD) and the Institute of Building Structures and Structural Design (ITKE) of the University of Stuttgart have completed a new research pavilion demonstrating robotic textile fabrication techniques for segmented timber shells. The pavilion is the first of its kind to employ industrial sewing of wood elements on an architectural scale. It is part of a successful series of research pavilions which showcase the potential of computational design, simulation and fabrication processes in architecture. The project was designed and realized by students and researchers within a multi-disciplinary team of architects, engineers, biologists, and palaeontologists.

Canon CHDK Hack Tutorial: RAW, HDR, and Time Lapse
Thanks to Marco from Time Lapse Italia (http://timelapseitalia.com) for the Italian translation to this video! The TLI video with Italian translation can be found here: http://timelapseitalia.com/tutorial-modificare-la-tua-fotocamera-canon-utilizzando-il-chdk/The easy way to install the Canon Hack Development Kit (CHDK). Shoot RAW, High Dynamic Range (HDR), and time lapse with your Canon point-and-shoot camera.
This Firmware update made my camera WAY more fun. There are some bad tutorials with unnecessary steps out out there. When I first researched this firmware, I found so much misinformation, I felt obligated to make this tutorial.
Update: With this method, you must load the firmware when you want to use it. After you restart the camera, the default firmware is loaded. This is nice because you probably don’t want to shoot raw all the time with your point-and-shoot.
I shot my Powershot SX130 IS with my Canon EOS Rebel 600D/T3i.
You need:
1. Canon point-and-shoot camera (I use SX130 IS in this example)
2. SD memory card
3. SD card reader/writer (I use the one on my laptop)
4. CHDK Firmware for your camera model ( http://chdk.wikia.com/ )Contact me at:

Erika’s Early Self Expression
Watch how a Deaf baby, Erika reacts. Amazing…clear example of early self-expression in ASL. Babies can communicate in ASL before using their voice to say words. ASL helps with providing easy access to cognitive and language development. You can read our article about Early Self Expression at http://www.aslrose.com/nlv6n1a.php.
