President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has commissioned the 100-megawatt solar photovoltaic power plant in Chisamba, with a directive that part of the electricity generated be retained in Central Province to boost the local economy.

President HICHILEMA says his administration recognises the significance of the project, as it aligns with the Government’s agenda to enhance energy security and drive economic growth.

He explains that increased power generation will unlock the potential of key sectors such as agriculture and mining, both of which have seen expansion under the UPND government.

President HICHILEMA made these remarks during the official commissioning ceremony of the 100 million dollar Solar PV project in Chisamba District.

He added that the project will not only help reduce the country’s energy deficit but also create employment, lower carbon emissions, and stimulate economic activity.
