3kw Solar System Price In India | Solar Panels For Home | Pm Surya Ghar Yojana

A 3 kW solar system is a very good option for an average household in India. It is enough to run basic appliances like 4–6 fans, lights, coolers, or even an air conditioner. However, with so many options available in the market, choosing the right setup can be confusing.

There are three main types of solar setups:

DC-based setup using your existing inverter and battery,
Grid-tied system with subsidy benefits,
Off-grid or hybrid system for backup during power cuts.

1. Using Existing Inverter (Low Budget Option)
If you already have an inverter and battery, you can simply add 3 kW solar panels using an MPPT solar charge controller.

A good example is Asha Power NON 50, which supports 3.8 kW panels and costs around ₹11,000.
You’ll also need four batteries for this setup.
The total cost for panels, wiring, and stand is around ₹80,000.
So, the complete setup cost will be around ₹92,000.

If your budget allows, you can go for bigger models like NON 70 or NON 80 which support up to 5–6 kW panels.

2. Grid-Tied System (With Government Subsidy)
If you install a grid-tied solar system at your home, you can get a subsidy of up to ₹78,000 on a 3 kW setup.

These systems can use string inverters or microinverters.
Microinverters are slightly more expensive but have advantages in performance and panel-wise monitoring.

A full grid-tied setup usually costs around ₹1.8 lakh, and after subsidy, the effective cost is around ₹1.2 lakh.

Brands like Waaree, Luminous, and UTL offer complete kits, and it is recommended to use all components from one brand for better service.

3. Off-Grid or Hybrid Systems (For Power Backup)
If you face frequent power cuts, off-grid or hybrid systems are ideal.
You have multiple options here:

Lead-acid battery setups with inverters like UTL Gamma+ 3400 or Aprotron 3200.
Lithium battery setups are more efficient, compact, and last longer.
You can also use transformer-less hybrid inverters (e.g., Servotech 3.6 kW) which work with lithium batteries and support full 3 kW loads on 1 or 2 batteries.

Estimated costs:

With lead-acid batteries: ₹1.3 to ₹1.6 lakh
With lithium battery: ₹1.6 to ₹2.1 lakh

For heavy usage, you can go for a 5 kVA inverter with 4 batteries (e.g., Smartmax 6100 or Aprotron 6500), which is also future-ready and can support higher loads.

Final Advice:
Before installing any solar system, always check the service network and product support of the brand in your area. Choose trusted and experienced brands to avoid issues later. Avoid going for very cheap or new brands just to save money—they may not offer reliable service or product life.
