Indian Railways has started installing special removable solar panels on the railway tracks at Banaras Locomotive Works. This step is called historic and seen as a move towards green and sustainable transport. The idea is to use the space between tracks to generate clean electricity without extra land. These panels can be easily removed whenever maintenance is needed. The panels are fixed with strong glue and have rubber pads to handle train vibrations, but some people worry about safety—like if high vibrations, accidents, or the need for frequent track repairs might damage the panels or risk short circuits. While Indian Railways says it’s a step for a green future, many do not see major benefits and have safety concerns.
