I love the winter solstice because it is a FACT! It doesn’t require belief (unless you’re a flat-earther ;o). But it is the pivot point of the farm year. The days start getting longer now. We look ahead to Spring and May lambing. The game changer is the ability to manage our forage so that we can delay the feeding of Hay (which costs money) by grazing actual, living grass. The Solar panels provide some pretty good protection for the sheep. And the sheep have no problem digging through the snow for the succulent cool season grasses that were last grazed in early August.
For me it’s exciting to have some confirmation that Greg Judy and my other mentors really do know what the heck they’re tawkin’ abowt!
