Most solar panels rely on direct sunlight.

AuREUS captures ultraviolet light instead, allowing energy generation even on cloudy days. The material embeds recycled fruit and vegetable particles inside a clear resin, which absorbs UV radiation and redirects it to photovoltaic cells at the edges.

Developed by Carvey Maigue and recognised by the James Dyson Award, AuREUS proposes solar generation through windows, facades, and vertical surfaces rather than only rooftops.

It reframes solar technology as part of architecture itself, not an added layer.

Save this for building-integrated energy reference.
