We have previously reviewed many large UTL solar sites and shared customer feedback, but we had not covered a 3 kW site yet. So today, we visited a 3 kW UTL solar installation to show how well it has been installed, what components were used, and to learn about the customer’s experience.
System Details:
✔️ Solar Panels:
The site uses 580W TOPCon technology solar panels with 23% efficiency.
The company provides a 27-year performance warranty.
These panels perform well even in low-light and cloudy conditions.
UTL also offers Mono PERC bifacial panels and both DCR and Non-DCR options.
✔️ Structure:
A hot-dip galvanized iron structure has been used, which is rust-free and highly durable.
The foundation is strong and built to withstand storms and heavy winds.
A lightning arrester is also installed for safety.
✔️ Inverter:
A 5 kW UTL inverter is installed (even though the system is 3 kW).
It includes ACDB and DCDB for safety, along with three types of earthing.
The inverter comes with a 10-year warranty.
Why a 5 kW Inverter for a 3 kW System?
✔️ The customer chose a 5 kW inverter for future planning.
✔️ Currently, only 3 kW panels are installed.
✔️ In the future, they can easily add 2 kW more panels without changing the inverter or meter.
✔️ This makes the system future-proof.
Cost & Subsidy:
✔️ Total system cost: ₹1,85,000
✔️ If 3 kW inverter was used: ₹1,70,000
✔️ Central Government subsidy: ₹78,000
✔️ Additional ₹17,000 state subsidy (expected soon)
Electricity Bill Savings:
✔️ Before installation: ₹4,000–₹5,000 per month
✔️ After installation: Around ₹1,500 per month
✔️ Savings: ₹3,000–₹3,500 per month
✔️ If they add 2 kW more panels in the future, the electricity bill could become nearly zero, and extra power can be exported to the grid.

✔️ Flour mill machine
✔️ 8–10 bulbs
✔️ 6–7 fans
✔️ Coolers
✔️ Daily household appliances
The customer is running most of these appliances almost free using solar power.
Why They Chose UTL:
✔️ The customer selected UTL after observing different brands in nearby villages.
✔️ Since their area experiences extreme cold in winter and extreme heat in summer, they chose UTL panels because they suit the local climate conditions.
Overall, this is a well-installed, future-ready 3 kW solar system that significantly reduces electricity bills and allows easy expansion in the future.
