Free solar power for SC/ST: PM Surya Ghar Yojana

Item Details Scheme Name PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 15, 2024. Main objective is to provide free electricity to one crore households across the country. Main benefit is the opportunity to get up to 300 units of free electricity every month by installing solar panels on the roof of the house.

Special benefits for SC/ST: The state benefit is to provide free electricity up to 200 units per month through rooftop solar systems to 20 lakh SC & ST families, linking it with Andhra Pradesh’s ‘Jagjivan Jyoti Yojana’. Maharashtra (SMART Scheme) SC and ST consumers will get an additional subsidy of 30% from the state government in addition to the central subsidy.
