As of April 2025, both Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have launched free solar panel schemes aimed at providing sustainable energy solutions to low-income households. These initiatives are part of broader efforts to alleviate energy costs and promote renewable energy adoption in Pakistan

The Government of Punjab, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has introduced a free solar panel scheme targeting households with limited electricity consumption. The program aims to distribute solar systems to eligible households to reduce their dependence on the national grid and lower electricity bills

Households consuming up to 200 units of electricity per month, based on Junelower electricity bills

Applicants should have a sanctioned load of up to 2 kilowatts (kW).

Eligible categories include:

Up to 50 Units (Life Line)

51-100 Units (Life Line)

0-100 Units (Protected and Unprotected)

101-200 Units (Protected and Unprotected)

Applicants must possess a valid Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) and provide their electricity bill reference number.
