When the temperature rises between 95\u00b0F and 115\u00b0F, the perovskite crystals change structure, causing the glass to shift color\u2014from clear to yellow, orange, red, or brown\u2014within seconds. As the windows darken, they start harvesting solar energy, turning sunlight into usable power.<\/p>\n<p>This breakthrough offers a double environmental benefit: reducing reliance on air conditioning and producing renewable energy simultaneously. Researchers say a working prototype could be developed within a year.<\/p>\n<p>Smart windows could transform buildings, especially in hot regions, by cutting energy bills and lowering carbon emissions.
