For example, a 300-watt cooler running 20 hours daily can consume about 180 units per month, significantly affecting the bill.<\/p>\n<p>To reduce electricity costs, solar power is becoming popular. While solar coolers are available (with or without battery backup), replacing an existing cooler is not always practical or affordable. The good news is that your existing cooler can run on solar panels.<\/p>\n<p>The calculation is simple:<br \/>Check the motor and water pump power rating<br \/>Add both values<br \/>Multiply by daily usage hours to find daily units consumed<br \/>Example:<br \/>250W motor + 50W pump = 300W<br \/>Used for 10 hours = 3 units\/day<\/p>\n<p>A 500-watt cooler used for 10 hours needs about 5 units\/day, which can be easily handled by a 1 kW solar system in summer.<\/p>\n<p>Solar output also depends on technology.
