This got me thinking&#8230;what cheap white or reflective surface would increase bifacial solar panel output the most?<\/p>\n<p>So I gathered 5 cheap white\/reflective materials &#8212; white rocks, aluminum foil, an emergency thermal (mylar) blanket, a white tarp, and reflective insulation &#8212; and spent the day putting them beneath a bifacial solar panel to measure how much each material increased power output.<\/p>\n<p>I wanted to compare the power output against a control, so I set up 2 identical bifacial panels and only put the reflective materials beneath one of them.<\/p>\n<p>(In hindsight, I probably should have included a material to mimic putting a white fence behind the panels&#8230;but didn&#8217;t think of that until I was done with filming and editing the video :\/.)<\/p>\n<p>Some of these materials aren&#8217;t the most practical. The aluminum foil and mylar blanket, for instance, both tear easily and wouldn&#8217;t last very long.
