If a recent report from journalist

If a recent report from journalist Alan Nixon is believed to be true, West Ham United are keeping close tabs on Emmanuel Fernandez ahead of a potential summer move. The Rangers centre-back has been a standout performer since joining the Glasgow giants, yet an exit will be sanctioned for the right offer.

The 24-year-old Englishman progressed through the academy ranks of Brentford before joining Gillingham. However, he failed to break into the latter’s first team and was loaned out to non-league outfits Sheppey United and Margate for senior minutes. After a brief spell with Ramsgate, then-Championship outfit Peterborough United secured his services in July 2021.

The Posh sent him back to the non-league with Spalding United and Barnet, but eventually handed him a regular status in League One. An impressive 2024-25 campaign caught the eyes of Kevin Thelwell and Russell Martin, who spent a fee of around €2.90m to secure his services north of the border.

Why West Ham United Are Eyeing A Swoop For Fernandez

Although the majority of summer signings failed to live up to expectations, Fernandez grabbed his opportunities in the heart of the backline. He started the season as the fourth-choice centre-half behind John Souttar, Nasser Djiga and Derek Cornelius, but was called into action amid injuries and the AFCON.
