LACRIMOSA – was established in November 1990 as an alternative band featuring rock music with poetrical lyrics, mixed with classical influences. Since over 20 years now the band releases their music through their own record label HALL OF SERMON. LACRIMOSA became a pioneer for several music styles, such as German Alternative and Symphonic-Metal!

Lacrimosa is a gothic duo led by German Tilo Wolff, the main composer, and Finnish Anne Nurmi, currently based in Switzerland, but originally from Germany. Originally counted among the bands of the Neue Deutsche Todeskunst genre, Lacrimosa have developed their style more towards powerful metal, but Gothic elements still remain.
Their current musical style mixes gothic rock and heavy metal along with violin, trumpet and more classical instruments, although their musical development throughout the years has also led to changes in instrumentation. Lacrimosa’s lyrics are written almost exclusively in German, although since the 1995 album Inferno every album has featured one or two songs in English, generally written by Anne Nurmi. Finnish has also appeared in the spoken intro to two songs (“Schakal” on Inferno and “The Turning Point” on Elodia) and on a bonus track in a limited edition release of Fassade called Vankina. Their lyrics are mainly about loneliness, sadness, darkness, despair and love.

Lacrimosa es una banda formada en Alemania fundada por Tilo Wolff . Mezclan estilos musicales tales como elementos del metal gótico, neoclásico, sinfónico, violines, trompetas y otros instrumentos clásicos. Sus letras están escritas principalmente en alemán, aunque algunos de sus álbumes tienen contenido en inglés, español, ruso, latín y finés. Sus canciones versan sobre la soledad, la analogía del hombre con el autómata, la tristeza, la oscuridad, la desesperación, la felicidad, la esperanza, la desesperanza, la muerte y el amor.

La palabra Lacrimosa proviene del latín, y significa: “Lágrimas fluyendo”.
Tilo Wolff escogió esta palabra pasara darle nombre a la agrupación al escuchar el Réquiem en re menor o misa de difuntos (para ser más precisos de la sexta etapa del tercer movimiento) de Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart quien es para Tilo una de sus mayores influencias.
