Ontario Power Generation, 700 University Avenue (at College Street)
[In association with Ontario Power Generation].

Interacting directly with the urban environment, multiple projections imagined the moment a small corner of the city is overtaken by the natural world. Inspired by Toronto’s now unforgettable aphid infestation of August 2001, a series of outdoor projections created moments of a shift in the balance between natural and urban environments. Situated in a neighbourhood currently undergoing economic growth and expansion, Battle’s presentation of an encroaching natural world reminds that its power is as transformative as that of urban development.

As noted by Henriette Huldisch in the 2006 Whitney Biennial Catalogue, “Christina Battle takes a physical, painterly approach to her medium: shooting on 16mm film stock, she processes the works by hand using custom-made chemicals and subsequently continues to alter the developed film by colour toning, painting, or dunking it in solution. Interested in evoking a charged emotional register, she treats the celluloid strip as though applying layers of paint to canvas until the texture and surface of the original photographic imagery are profoundly transformed by the traces of her manual manipulations.”

    Karoshi! – Gameplay

This is “Karoshi!”, a multiplayer strategy game in the style of “Dungeon Keeper”, made with Unity3D. Build an office, recruit employees, and destroy the desk of the adversary company boss with your mobbers and vandals!

“Karoshi!” was made in 1.5 months as an entry for a small competition on the German game development forum ZFX. Possible themes were “bureaucracy”, “chocolate”, “storm” and “oil”, and we picked the first two. Thus, employees which were attacked by interns or mobbers have to heal themselves on vending machines with chocolate bars.

    Soul Safari Episode Two

In mid december 2009, four guys set out on a motorcycle adventure around east/central Africa.

Eric Kreutter, Jared White, John Niemeyer, and Blake Gaskill.

During the trip we had little intention of creating a movie out of our experience, we simply carried a small (1st generation) Flip camera with us and documented moments that we thought we would like to look back on. We shared several pictures and videos along the way through a facebook group here: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=195360734886

When it was all said and done, we had probably 20 hours of small clips from the trip- most of them random, shaky and unusable… but there was some gold in there! We decided that this was an adventure worthy of sharing with the rest of the world, so we took it upon ourselves to sort through the amateur clips and arrange them (on iMovie ’07) into a sensical and chronological documentary of this life changing experience.

It took one year to finish… and on the eve of our one year trip anniversary, we are finally presenting it to the world. It may not be the most polished piece, but it does have heart…

For my Context 2 module on my Multimedia course at NTU, I had to produce a portfolio of my work on a DVD. I decided to make a showreel of my work for this assignment including a splash page and menu, followed by finished work, work in progress, development process and contact sections on the DVD. This is an online adaptation of this portfolio, featuring everything but the DVD menu.
