    Five Ways In-Trailer

‘Five Ways In’ tells the story of five people and their journeys through the Freiburg International Contact Improvisation Festival of 2012. Each person had a seed or intention for the week that captured different positions and experiences of the festival. The documentary team of Mike, Sonja and Alyssa followed and filmed the development of their seeds through the week, capturing moments when they were tested and satisfied. Filming and editing was informed by principles of contact improvisation and the theme and format of the film was built in collaboration with the contact community, most particularly at ECITE 2012 in Bern, Switzerland.

Minolta MD Rokkor-X 50mm f/1.4 conversion to Canon EOS

Minolta MD Rokkor-X 50mm f/1.4 conversion to Canon EOS

Folks this is a 24 minute video, so if you want see full detail on how this conversion is done, then go grab a drink 🙂 I’m pretty sure this is the most detailed-documented procedure on how to convert a Minolta MD lens to Canon EOS. It is of my opinion that the best Minolta SR mount 50mm primes were the MD Rokkor-X 50/1.2 and 50/1.4. By this time in Minolta’s manual SLR lens development they had figured out the best coatings, saved some weight and size, and engineered their best aperture diaphragm (hence MD for Minimum Diaphragm). This lens is Minolta’s second gen. MD lens. The last and 3rd generation were perhaps just a good optically, but they builds were of more plastic.

Please visit the following forum thread where you will find further discussion (Q&A) and sample photos taken with this lens on a Canon EOS 5D Mark II: http://www.motleypixel.com/forum/index.php/topic,608.0.html

It is by no means perfect and it does not give Hollywood stile slides but the slides are pretty good as can be seen in the last part of the video.
It is still under development so stay tuned for updates on modifications.

  • A Photographic Journey

    A Photographic Journey

After more than half a Year of Work, the finale Edition of my Timelapse Shortmovie is finished. I don’t even know how many hours of work I put into this, but not few, thats clear.
All the Scenes were Shot in Graubünden, Switzerland, from Juny till November 2011. The Shooting Locations are mostly several Hours away from the next human Settlements. So walking long distances with a Lot of Gear was required.

Im Honored and thankful, to be able to use the wonderfull Song “And it Begins” from Veigar Margeirsson, one of the most sought-after composers in the world of film, television and advertising.
Veigar Margeirsson was behind Soundtracks that were used for Films like:
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Inception, Iron Man, No Country for Old Men, United 93, Atonement, Beowulf and Many more!

Make sure to turn the Volume and Bass way up!
Visit his Website for more information: www.veigar.com

The Workflow in this Project looked somewhat like this:
    – Shoot with a Pentax K7 and some neutral-density-filters
    – RAW-Development in Lightroom
    – Prerendering in After Effects (Movements, Color-Correction)
    – Cut and finale Color-Correction in Premiere Pro

So now, this is the End. And I’m happy that this Project finally has come to an End!

MauiSails’ entry for the 2010 racing season is TR-6, the perfect evolution of easy to manage power and acceleration, comfortable handling, and impressive speed. World Championship results in Formula, and Pro Slalom and Speed wins are in the lineage of the TR design catalogue, and the feedback and observations of the competitors who test and perform with them provides the foundation of the development. Each year there is a search for the elusive ideal, and the TR-6 is our statement.

  • Preview of ‘Mari Go!’

    Preview of ‘Mari Go!’

Short preview demonstrating the development of ‘Mari Go!’, python script for Mari.

Mari Go! creates a bridge between Mari and Maya/Softimage, exporting flattened channels and other data from the currently selected Mari shader and hooking everything into a shading network in your 3d package. It’s designed to work in conjunction with custom Mari shaders developed by Antonio Neto, Miguel A Santiago Jr and Nicholas Breslow, but standard Mari shaders such as ‘Blinn’ will also be supported on first release.

The custom shaders are being developed as a look development tool and will be accurate representations inside Mari of existing architectural/monolithic shaders used in various renderers, such as Arnold, Vray, and Mental Ray. Once the user is happy with how things are looking inside Mari, all shader parameters set there will translate 1:1 over to Maya/Softimage, enabling a very quick and easy way to get texture assets out of Mari and ready for a test render…
