Today we visited a residential solar installation site in Rajgarh, Rajasthan. This is a 5 kW solar system installed under the PM Surya Muft Bijli Yojana subsidy scheme, and it has been running for about 5–6 months. We reviewed the system and collected customer feedback.
The system uses 575W DCR solar panels from UTL. The company also offers a wide range of panels, including TOPCon and mono PERC bifacial technologies. The panels come with a 27-year performance warranty and a 10-year product warranty.
The mounting structure is made of hot-dip galvanized iron, designed to last 25–30 years. The installation quality, including the foundation, is strong and well-executed for long-term durability.
A 5 kW UTL grid-tied inverter is installed, along with DCDB and ACDB for safety. The system converts DC power from panels into AC and feeds it into the home and grid. Excess power is exported to the grid, while additional demand is met through grid supply. The inverter also features a display and mobile app monitoring for tracking generation, import, and export data. The system includes three types of earthing for complete safety.
The customer shared that before installation, their electricity bill was around ₹7,000–₹7,500 per month. After installing the solar system, it has reduced to around ₹1,000–₹1,500. The total system cost was about ₹2 lakh after receiving a subsidy of ₹78,000. The customer reported no issues and is satisfied with the performance.
The installer, with over 24 years of experience, mentioned that UTL systems are reliable, provide good performance, and are affordable. They can install systems ranging from small residential setups to large-scale installations up to 100–150 kW.
Overall, the system is performing well, generating good savings, and delivering a positive customer experience.
