St. John’s College unveiled about 500 new solar panels on top of the college’s Mellon Hall and heating plant during a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday afternoon for Earth Day.
The renewable energy project is expected to produce over 340,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, which is enough to power the entire campus for three weeks.
