Vermont Sen. Peter Welch, a Democrat, said that resurrecting the Affordable Care Act subsidies could depend on President Donald Trump in an interview with NPR Jan. 1.
The healthcare subsidies under what’s commonly known as Obamacare expired Jan. 1 after Congress failed to extend them. They were at the heart of the congressional standoff that resulted in the longest-ever government shutdown.
